£50M for Garnacho? Even United Know He’s Not Worth That Now

2 Min Read

Alejandro Garnacho’s time at Manchester United appears to be nearing its end, and the club seems increasingly desperate to part ways with the 20-year-old winger. What was once seen as a promising future has quickly soured following a turbulent season both on and off the pitch.

Tensions between Garnacho and manager Ruben Amorim came to a head after the Europa League final, where the Argentine was left on the bench. The fallout escalated publicly when Garnacho criticized Amorim’s selection choices. Soon after, a fiery confrontation between the two reportedly ended with Amorim telling Garnacho he had “better pray” to find a new club.

The situation worsened when Garnacho posted a photo of himself wearing an Aston Villa shirt emblazoned with Marcus Rashford’s name. The move was perceived as a blatant act of disrespect and further solidified the club’s decision to sell. United initially valued Garnacho at £70 million, but that figure has since dropped significantly, with sources now suggesting a bid in the region of £45–50 million may be enough.

Financially, any sale would be counted as pure profit under Profit and Sustainability Rules, since Garnacho joined the academy from Atlético Madrid in 2020. With bridges seemingly burned and interest cooling due to the high asking price, United are now simply hoping to offload him quickly and reinvest in their summer rebuild.
