Australia is dominating the 4th Test on Day 2 at the Melbourne Cricket Ground by posting an amazing total of 474 runs in the first innings against India.
In reply, India could only score 164/5 after losing 3 quick wickets, resulting in 310 total runs.
On the other hand, Australia did well with the steller performance of Steven Smith.
Smith scored his highest since the 2019 Ashes, a total of 140 runs. The Indian bowlers struggled to take wickets and break the Australian lineup.
Moreover, India’s top batting order, like KL Rahul and Rohit Sharma struggled with their batting. Sharma got dismissed for a duck after the tea break.
However, Virat Kohli and Yashavi Jaiswal did well, adding 102 runs for the 3rd wicket. Jaiswal was dismissed on 82, while Kohli was dismissed on 36. So, Day 2 ended with Rishab Pant and Ravindra Jadeja at the crease, trying to stabilize the innings.
To sum up, Australia’s strong performance got them in the dominating position, and India is still suffering with their lower order. Hopefully, the lower order will stablize the innings and will help India have a strong position by the end of the day.
