Chelsea are edging closer to securing a £40 million ($54 million) transfer deal for Manchester United forward Alejandro Garnacho, according to sources.
The 21-year-old Argentine has struggled for minutes under United manager Ruben Amorim and has not featured since the 2024-25 Europa League final.
Garnacho was notably excluded from United’s preseason tour of the United States, instead training with fellow outcasts Marcus Rashford, Jadon Sancho, Tyrell Malacia, and Antony.
Despite rejecting a move to Bayern Munich earlier this month, Garnacho’s desire to join Chelsea has been clear, and negotiations between the two Premier League clubs have intensified.
Chelsea had previously shown interest in the winger but were initially reluctant to meet United’s £50 million valuation. However, recent talks suggest an agreement could be reached for a transfer fee between £35 million and £40 million, with sources confident that the deal could be finalized before the transfer deadline on September 1.
Garnacho’s move would further reshape Chelsea’s attack as the club looks to offload players like Nicolas Jackson and Christopher Nkunku.
Meanwhile, United are looking to refresh their forward line following the signings of Matheus Cunha, Bryan Mbeumo, and Benjamin Sesko. Garnacho’s departure from Old Trafford marks another significant exit from United’s squad.
