Arsenal missed a crucial opportunity to close the gap on Premier League leaders Liverpool as they were held to a goalless draw against Everton at the Emirates Stadium. Despite Liverpool’s earlier draw with Fulham, Arsenal failed to capitalize, remaining six points behind the top spot.
Mikel Arteta’s side sits 3rd in the table with 30 points from 16 matches and just one point behind Chelsea. Everton is now on the 15th place with 15 points and he has managed to halt a 3 match losing streak against Arsenal by maintaining a strong defensive performance.
Everton manager Sean Dyche asked his players for their commitment and discipline. He said “ The players put in a big shift… I was proud of the players.”
Arsenal dominated but struggled to penetrate Everton’s defense, with goalkeeper Jordan Pickford making several important saves.
Despite Arsenal’s increased aggression in the second half, they could not find the back of the net. Late in the match, they appealed for a penalty when Thomas Partey was fouled, but after a VAR review, the decision was upheld. The drew left Arsenal frustrated as they missed a chance to gain ground in the title race.
