Australia won the first test match in Galle with a massive 242-run margin. Sri Lanka has never faced such defeats in any test cricket.
From the visitors, Usman Khwaja was the biggest scorer with 232 net runs. Furthermore, Steve Smith scored 141 runs alongside Josh Inglis, who scored 102 runs. This trio helped Australia reach a massive milestone of 654 runs.
On the flip side, Sri Lankan players were struggling to hit runs. Lankan players were unable to stand against the Australian bowlers. Lanka got bowled out for only 165 runs and 247 in the 2nd innings.
