Bayern Munich have made a formal approach for Lyon winger Malick Fofana, casting serious doubt over Nottingham Forest’s hopes of securing the 20-year-old Belgian.
According to Fabrizio Romano, Forest have already agreed a fee with Lyon for the talented attacker, but no personal terms have been settled, leaving the door wide open for Champions League clubs.
Fofana, who registered five goals and four assists in 29 Ligue 1 appearances last season, is reportedly keen to test himself at the highest level of European football.
Bayern’s interest, alongside that of Napoli and Chelsea, is a tempting prospect for the youngster, who sees the Bundesliga champions as an ideal next step.
Lyon, struggling with financial difficulties, are under pressure to offload assets this summer, and Fofana is one of their most valuable.
While Bayern’s main target remains Nico Woltemade, Stuttgart’s €100 million valuation has prompted the club to explore alternative wide options, with Fofana emerging as a strong contender.
Nottingham Forest may still hope to convince the player, but with Bayern now in the mix, the Premier League side’s deal appears increasingly fragile. Fofana is expected to decide his future in the coming days as more offers come in.
