Liverpool have pulled off a blockbuster move in the summer transfer window, with transfer expert Fabrizio Romano confirming that Bayer Leverkusen have officially accepted their bid for German star Florian Wirtz.
Speaking on his YouTube channel, Romano revealed that the “green light” arrived via email on Monday evening, marking the final hurdle in a deal set to reshape Liverpool’s attacking future.
The total package for Wirtz is reported to be €150 million, including add-ons, some of which are described as “almost guaranteed,” such as appearance-related bonuses.
This makes the 22-year-old attacking midfielder the most expensive signing in Liverpool’s history, surpassing the likes of Darwin Núñez and Virgil van Dijk.
Romano stated that Liverpool will now proceed with a medical and begin formalizing contracts. The club’s financial strategy appears well-balanced, with sources indicating the Wirtz deal was not dependent on player sales, though the recent acceptance of a low initial fee for Caoimhin Kelleher by Brentford may have helped streamline negotiations.
Wirtz, who notched 31 goal contributions last season, is expected to slot into the No. 10 role but offers flexibility across the front line. Liverpool fans hoping for a new era of dominance may have just witnessed its first major step.
