India’s much-anticipated white-ball tour of Bangladesh has officially been pushed back by a year, with both boards confirming a new window in September 2026. Originally scheduled for August 2025, the series included three ODIs and three T20Is.
The decision, jointly announced by the BCCI and BCB, came after weeks of speculation. In a statement, the board spokesperson said, “The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) and the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) have mutually agreed to defer the white-ball series, taking into account international cricketing commitments and scheduling convenience of both teams.”
The postponement isn’t entirely unexpected. Political unrest in Bangladesh had already raised concerns, and BCB president Aminul Islam had hinted at uncertainty around the tour in recent interviews.
The delay means Indian fans must wait longer to see veterans like Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma in national colors. Both are now limited to white-ball cricket and were expected to feature prominently in the series.
While Bangladesh gears up to host Pakistan for a T20I series later this month, India’s freed-up calendar in August could see Test regulars featuring in the Duleep Trophy, aligning with the BCCI’s renewed domestic focus amidst an uncertain Asia Cup schedule.
