Man City 4-0 Wolves: Reijnders Stars as Guardiola’s New Era Hits Top Gear

Manchester City kicked off their 2025–26 Premier League campaign in spectacular fashion, cruising to a 4-0 victory over Wolverhampton Wanderers at Molineux.

Erling Haaland continued his season-opening scoring streak with a brace, while newcomers Tijjani Reijnders and Rayan Cherki impressed on their Premier League debuts.

Haaland struck first in the 34th minute, tapping in a pinpoint cross from Rico Lewis. Just moments later, Reijnders, on his City debut, doubled the lead with a sweet left-footed finish.

The Dutchman later turned playmaker for Haaland’s second, threading a slick pass from his one-two with Oscar Bobb. Substitute Cherki rounded off the scoring with a composed finish in the 81st minute.

Reijnders was rightly hailed man of the match, becoming only the second City player after Sergio Aguero to both score and assist on his Premier League debut.

His blend of energy, composure, and creative flair offered timely reassurance after Kevin De Bruyne’s absence.

Pep Guardiola’s revamped squad displayed emphatic cohesion. Rookie goalkeeper James Trafford kept a clean sheet, while players like Lewis, Stones, Bobb, and Cherki all contributed to a powerful performance.

However, Guardiola later cautioned that the squad remains “too big” and in need of trimming to maintain internal harmony.

With this commanding win, City sits atop the table and sends a clear message to rivals: a new chapter has begun, and it looks sharper than ever.
