Matheus Cunha Set for Old Trafford Move as United Launch Summer Rebuild

Manchester United have triggered the £62.5m release clause of Wolves forward Matheus Cunha, signalling the start of a significant summer overhaul under new boss Ruben Amorim.

The 26-year-old Brazilian, who enjoyed a standout 2024–25 season with 17 goals and six assists across all competitions, is expected to bring fresh energy and creativity to a United side in desperate need of attacking flair.

Cunha’s intelligent movement, clinical finishing, and ability to operate in tight spaces make him a perfect fit for Amorim’s favoured 3-4-2-1 formation.

At Wolves, Cunha thrived in a supporting forward role, often drifting into pockets between the lines and linking play with ease.

He led the club in goals, chances created, and successful dribbles this season, often carrying the side through difficult spells with his individual brilliance. His overperformance on expected goals by over six suggests a striker with sharp instincts and composure under pressure.

Amorim views Cunha as a key piece of his tactical puzzle, with the Brazilian likely to compete with Marcus Rashford and Alejandro Garnacho for a starting spot on the left of the attack. With this signing, United are not just buying a player – they’re shaping a new identity.
