Real Madrid on Alert as Kobbie Mainoo Edges Closer to Man United Exit

2 Min Read

Kobbie Mainoo’s future at Manchester United is hanging in the balance, with the 20-year-old midfielder growing increasingly frustrated after being frozen out by new manager Ruben Amorim.

Mainoo, once regarded as the heartbeat of United’s midfield and a key figure in England’s Euro 2024 campaign, has yet to play a single minute this season and now looks set to explore options away from Old Trafford.

Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid are both monitoring the situation closely, with reports suggesting that a season-long loan or permanent deal could materialize before the transfer window closes.

Mainoo’s preference is clear regular first-team football at a Champions League club something Amorim appears unwilling to guarantee. The Portuguese coach has reiterated that Mainoo is competing for a spot with captain Bruno Fernandes, a player who is rarely rested and central to Amorim’s system.

United are open to a deal if a suitable offer arrives, but time is running out. Premier League clubs are also circling, though Mainoo’s camp is believed to favor a move abroad. If he departs, it would mark a significant moment for United, who have prided themselves on nurturing academy graduates since 1937.

A decision is expected within the next 48 hours, as Mainoo’s omission from the Carabao Cup tie against Grimsby could signal the end of his United journey.
