Newcastle United have agreed a deal worth up to £55 million to sign Swedish winger Anthony Elanga from Nottingham Forest.

The 23-year-old has completed his medical on Tyneside and is set to become the Magpies’ latest high-profile summer signing.

The initial fee stands at £52 million, with a further £3 million in performance-based add-ons. Elanga, who joined Forest from Manchester United in 2023, enjoyed a breakout season in 2024/25, scoring six goals and notching 11 assists in the Premier League. His explosive pace and creativity were central to Forest’s push for European qualification.

Eager to return to Champions League football, Elanga is understood to be excited about joining a club with top-four ambitions.

He will link up with compatriot Alexander Isak under Eddie Howe, who has long admired the winger’s direct style and work ethic.

Elanga becomes Newcastle’s second attacking addition this summer, following Antonio Cordero’s arrival from Málaga.

With Callum Wilson departing and Sean Longstaff in talks with Leeds, Newcastle’s midfield and forward lines are undergoing a quiet rebuild, one bolstered by the ambition and flair of their new Swedish signing.
